We\u2019ve recently made a big decision. And it wasn\u2019t easy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renue is an ethical, European marketplace for sustainable brands. And if you\u2019ve been following along, you know we received an email about two months ago, questioning our sustainability standards, particularly around cosmetics. That email? Unpacking the complexities of cosmetic ingredients and regulation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Since then, we\u2019ve spoken with Mark Smith<\/a>, Director General at NATRUE<\/a> – The International Natural and Organic Cosmetics Association, Nuria Alonso from Certificaci\u00f3n BioVidaSana<\/a>, and had some great conversations with brands like Omamori<\/strong>, who are already certifying part of their products and doing things by the book.<\/em> One thing quickly became very clear: cosmetics is a tricky world. Ingredients, regulation, transparency\u2026 it\u2019s a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So hence our decision: only certified cosmetic<\/strong> products will be accepted on Renue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our new standard: Why certified cosmetics only<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not because we want to be exclusive or make things harder. But because we know<\/em> what we don\u2019t know. We\u2019re not chemists. We\u2019re not a certification body. And frankly, we don\u2019t want to become one either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we do want, is to collaborate with experts who\u2019ve already done the homework; people and organisations we trust, who share our values and vision. Because we believe in teaming up with those who know their stuff. That\u2019s why we\u2019re proud to be working with certification bodies like Certificaci\u00f3n BioVidaSana and NATRUE, and currently in the talks with COSMOS-standard AISBL<\/a> and brands like Botanik Skin Natural Cosmetics<\/a>, VerbelBio<\/a>, Aina de M\u00f4<\/a>, OMAMORI BEAUTY TALISMAN<\/a>, y AYLANABIO.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re all about progress, not perfection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Also: we\u2019re not just sticking certification logos onto our site. We\u2019ll be adding explanations<\/strong> of what these certifications actually mean. Because let\u2019s be honest, if we get confused sometimes, imagine what it’s like for the end consumer. We feel it\u2019s our job to bring clarity and trust to the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To those brands who\u2019ve invested the time (and let\u2019s be real, money) to get certified: we see you. We want to support you. This decision is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And to those still on the path: we\u2019re here to help guide and connect you with people who can support your process. We’re all about progress, not perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s next?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

So now we\u2019re turning it over to you: Which certification bodies<\/strong> should we talk to next? Which sector <\/strong>should we tackle? We\u2019re thinking fashion?
